About Mr. Scalise |
My first job (beside mowing lawns and delivering about 250 papers everyday in high school!) was as an assistant to the lead statistician for the Bureau of Lands at the Department of Interior in Washington, D.C. ... (That's a mouthful!) (*.*) [Thinking again, I actually started as a math tutor in 1975, which partially paid my way for college, and I have been a church musician since 1972.]
I moved to Tucson and started teaching in 1979, and retired from public school teaching in 2013. Being a perpetual student, I've earned three teaching certificates - elementary, secondary, and special education. As the needs of my students changed over time, I studied for additional endorsements in Early Childhood, for Sheltered Language Instruction, and as Reading Specialist (K-12). I also confirmed my qualification for Middle School Math. I have had training and experience as an Instructional Coach, and along with my Bachelors and Masters of Arts, I took the juried qualifications for a minor piano performance certificate during my undergraduate studies. But truly above all of this, I am thankful for the opportunity to use the gifts I have been given, and I'm thrilled to be teaching and currently supporting the resource needs here at St. Joseph's Catholic School.
